Do you want to understand the prayers you're reading or the Torah portion? Come read Torah selections together as we build and reinforce our Biblical Hebrew reading skills. We'll work with "The First Hebrew Reader: Guided Selections from the Hebrew Bible."

This class is for people who have basic skills at reading Biblical Hebrew, can parse simple sentences and recognize basic verb conjugations (at least perfect and imperfect, binyan paal). We'll use "The First Hebrew Primer" by Simon, Resnikoff & Motzkin as our basic reference text. If you've already worked through the book then you're ready to read "real" Biblical Hebrew. If not, then you can build your language comprehension as we work through the Reader texts. We'll expand our Biblical vocabulary and strengthen verb pattern recognition, but our primary focus will be on reading Hebrew.
