Jewish Meditation
"Isaac went out to meditate in the field toward evening ..." Genesis 24:63
There is a rich tradition of meditation within Jewish practice. From the patriarchs to the prophets, the kabbalists to the modern renewal movement, meditation has been recognized and embraced as a Jewish spiritual practice.
God may be unknowable, but we can still encounter the divine. Meditation offers a path to approach the divine through deep reflection and concentration.
Join us as we explore and practice various Jewish meditation techniques, including ancient Hebrew and Aramaic chants, focused contemplations and visualizations, and guided meditative journeys to open our awareness to the sacred. We will draw from Torah, the prayerbook, midrash and mystical texts. Our meditations will honor the soul's path through the cycle of the seasons and holidays.
No prior meditation or Hebrew experience required.
Come join us for any or all classes.
