Trees, Torah and Tu BiShvat
Tuesday, Feb 3, 2015,
10:30 AM - 12:30 PM
Tu BiShvat, New Year's for the Trees, has always been an occasion to mark the deep connection of human beings (adam) with the earth (adamah). We'll see how it has developed over time and how the Kabbalistic seder offers an opportunity to renew ourselves and the world.
Seeing the Tree at the Center
Tuesday, February 10, 2015, 10:30 AM - 12:30 PM
The Tree of Life, Eitz Chayim, stands in the center of the Garden of Eden and at the center of Judaism. We'll look more closely at what Torah suggests we might learn from the trees.
Purim & Paradox
Tuesday, February 24, 2015, 10:30 AM - 12:30 PM
Purim is a holiday of contraditions and paradox: we celebrate together wearing masks and costumes, read in Torah (Esther) a melodrama of buffoonery and reversals where God is never mentioned, and we drink until 'we don't know' (ad lo yoda). We'll look under the mask for a better understanding of the holiday.
